Submission Guidelines
General Requirements
- Artist submits digital image(s) of their work via the online submission process. Artists may submit up to but no more than 5 pieces of artwork to this exhibit.
- The juror will select art for the exhibition from the digital images. She will select award winners after viewing the artwork at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
- Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, computer graphics, mixed media, fiber art, and fine crafts are eligible.
- For all 2-D artwork (for example, paintings or drawings on paper, canvas, wood panels, or photographs): The size of your artwork (done by multiplying the height by the width using feet as the unit of measure) may not exceed 15 feet, including the frame or any base that is attached to a sculpture. Any piece of artwork that has more than 12 inches in depth needs to be calculated using the requirements for 3-D work. For all 3-D work (for example, pottery, all sculpture, or any piece more than 12 inches in depth): The size of your artwork (done by multiplying the height by the width by depth using feet as the unit of measure) may not exceed 15 feet, including the frame or any base that is attached to a sculpture. These requirements apply to all artwork. The maximum weight allowed is 150 pounds. If you measure your artwork in inches, convert that measurement into feet, and then do the calculations.
- Art must be original and be completed in 2023, 2024, or 2025. Art shown in prior Montgomery Art Guild or Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts exhibitions is not eligible. Artwork submitted in the 2024 Regions Bank Show is eligible. Artists may not substitute for accepted artworks. No gicleé reproductions of original art in another medium will be permitted (for example, no gicleé prints of oils, acrylics, watercolors, etc.). You must submit your own work. Work deemed to be in violation of copyright law will not be considered for the exhibition.
- Art must be finished, dry, framed or gallery wrapped, and suitable for display. Any entry that shows sign of insect infestation or activity, or that does not meet exhibition criteria will be rejected. NOTE: If the Museum sees any sign of insect activity (current or past) when it is physically in the building (i.e., has already been juried in), the artist will be required to immediately retrieve it, and the work will be disqualified from the exhibition.
- No additional work may be done on a piece of artwork after the submission of the work. If your artwork is accepted into the show, and you work on it after the submission process, your artwork will be pulled from the exhibition at take in.
- If your artwork is selected for the exhibition, it must be the artwork that was submitted for entry. No substitutions are allowed.
- Art must be labeled to match information on the registration form, which will be used for the catalogue. Put this information on the back or bottom of the artwork. Tags for your work may be given to you by the Montgomery Art Guild when you deliver your work to the Museum.
- Images of art selected for the show may be used for promotional purposes by the Montgomery Art Guild and/or the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. This call is open to only to residents in Alabama.
- Applicants must be 19 years or older; no applications by underage artists will be accepted.
- The Montgomery Art Guild and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts reserve the right to exclude any artwork deemed offensive.
- There is no commission charged by the museum or the guild on sales of artwork. The guild will notify artists when someone is interested in purchasing artwork. All sales will be handled directly by the artist and the artist will be responsible for all applicable taxes.
Digital Image Requirements
- Images should represent the art as accurately as possible.
- Submit one image per two-dimensional entry; two images per three-dimensional entry.
- The photo of your entry must be taken from the front, 300 ppi, and be submitted in one of the following file formats: .JPG, .PNG, or .GIF. The submission must be between 2500 pixels and 4600 pixels on its longest side (that is, it can be no smaller than 2500 pixels on its longest side, and no larger than 4600 pixels on the longest side). The maximum file size for an image is 4 MB.
- All entries must be submitted at artatmmfa46.artcall.org.
Required Information
The following artist information is required for your submission:
- Artist Name
- Artist Address
- Artist Phone
- Artist Email
The following artwork information is required for each submitted artwork:
- Title
- Medium
- Date created (any work created before 2023 is not eligible for this exhibition)
- Framed Size (in inches)
- Unframed Size (in inches)
- Price if for sale (put NFS if not for sale)
Make sure to confirm that all spelling of both artist information and artwork information is correct BEFORE submitting your entry. How it appears on the form is how it will appear in the catalogue.
Application and Entry Fees
There is no membership requirement for this year's exhibition. The entry fee is a flat rate of $15 per submission.
This is a juried competition. If work is not selected for the exhibition, entry fees will not be refunded.
Additional Important Information
Every precaution will be exercised in the handling of the artwork. However, the Montgomery Art Guild and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts will not be held responsible for any damage or loss.
Works must be delivered in person on the delivery date of artwork to the museum. No shipped works will be accepted. If you cannot hand deliver work in person on the delivery date, contact the Montgomery Art Guild via email at artguildmontgomery@gmail.com to make another arrangement for getting your artwork delivered to the Museum.
Works must be claimed during pick up time on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM. If unable to pick up work at the designated time, contact MAG by email at artguildmontgomery@gmail.com by September 10, 2025. Due to the number of artists participating, the MMFA will be unable to deliver artwork back to artists or hold artwork. DO NOT CONTACT THE MMFA REGARDING PICK UP OF ARTWORK. I.D. is required of anyone picking up artwork.
Works claimed by someone other than the artist requires a note with the following:
- Title of the work
- Name of the person picking up artwork
- Signature of the artist
Any unclaimed art after 5 PM on September 15, 2025 will become the property of the Montgomery Art Guild and will be donated to Jackson Hospital Healing Arts Program.
