Terms & Conditions
- All applicants must be at least 19 years of age and a resident of the state of Alabama. Works submitted by applicants who do not meet this criteria will not be considered by the juror.
- The juror will select art for the exhibition from the digital images. She or he will select award-winners after viewing the artwork at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
- Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, computer graphics, mixed media, fiber art, and fine crafts are eligible.
- Artists may enter no more than five works.
- For all 2-D artwork (for example, paintings or drawings on paper, canvas, wood panels, or photographs): The size of your artwork (done by multiplying the height by the width using feet as the unit of measure) may not exceed 15 feet, including the frame or any base that is attached to a sculpture. Any piece of artwork that has more than 12 inches in depth needs to be calculated using the requirements for 3-D work. For all 3-D work (for example, pottery, all sculpture, or any piece more than 12 inches in depth): The size of your artwork (done by multiplying the height by the width by depth using feet as the unit of measure) may not exceed 15 feet, including the frame or any base that is attached to a sculpture. These requirements apply to all artwork. The maximum weight allowed is 150 pounds. If you measure your artwork in inches, convert that measurement into feet, and then do the calculations.
- Art must be original and be completed in 2023, 2024, or 2025. Art shown in prior MAG or MMFA exhibitions is not eligible. Artists may not substitute for accepted artworks. Artwork submitted in the 2024 Regions Bank Show is eligible.
- Art must be finished, dry, framed or gallery wrapped, and suitable for display. Any entry where the MMFA discovers signs of insect infestation or activity, or that does not meet exhibition criteria will be rejected. NOTE: If the museum sees ANY sign of insect activity (current or past) when it is physically in the building (i.e., has already been juried in), the artist will be required to immediately retrieve it and the work will be disqualified from the exhibition.
- Art must be labeled to match information on the registration form, which will be used for the catalogue.
- Images of art selected for the show may be used for promotional purposes by MAG and/or MMFA.
- Images should represent the art as accurately as possible.
- Submit 1 image per two-dimensional entry; 2 images per sculpture entry.
- Take care photographing your artwork. Make sure it is in focus. Make sure it has good lighting. Make sure that there is not a lot of light bouncing off the surface of the work. Make sure the image is not crooked. Remember, your work will be judged via your photograph, so make it a good one. The photograph of your entry must be taken from the front. If it is a three-dimensional piece of artwork, you may photograph it from a second angle. Size the resolution of the photo at 300 pixels per inch. Save it in JPG format. The photo must be between 2500 pixels and 4600 pixels on its longest side (that is, it can be no smaller than 2500 pixels on its longest side, and no larger than 4600 pixels on the longest side). The maximum file size for a photo is 4 mb. If your artwork is two-dimensional, make sure to include just the artwork in the photo. Don’t include unnecessary background. Artwork submitted in the 2024 Regions Bank Show is eligible. If your artwork is three-dimensional, make sure you photograph it with a solid background color.
- Any entry that does not meet exhibition criteria or that the MMFA or Montgomery Art Guild finds offensive will be rejected.
- All entries must be submitted at https://artatmmfa46.artcall.org. No emailed work will be accepted.
- All art will be for sale unless otherwise designated. Artists are responsible for submitted sales tax to the State of Alabama.
- Every precaution will be exercised in the handling of the artwork. However, the Montgomery Art Guild and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts will not be held responsible for any damage or loss.
- Works must be claimed during the pick up time indicated on the calendar of events. If unable to pick up work at the designated time, contact MAG by email at artguildmontgomery@gmail.com before the close of the exhibition. Due to the number of artists participating, the MMFA will be unable to deliver artwork back to artists or hold artwork. DO NOT CONTACT THE MMFA REGARDING THE PICK UP OF ARTWORK. Proper I.D. is required of anyone picking up artwork.
- Any unclaimed art becomes the property of the Montgomery Art Guild and will be donated to the Jackson Hospital Healing Arts Program.
- Works claimed by someone other than the artist require a note with the following:
- Title of the work
- Name of the person picking up
- Signature of the artist
